Baharan Taherkhani

Rain, fall harder… Baharan lies drowned in blood…

She was only 23 years old—a medical student who had learned the very alphabet of saving lives.
During the evening protests of January 12 in the streets of Qazvin, as she rushed to help the wounded, she herself became the target of hatred. Three bullets brought an end to the dreams of a young woman who had lived her humanity through saving others.
More painful than the bullets were the moments that followed: she still had a pulse, she was still breathing, yet they prevented anyone from giving her aid. Her body was held for six days, and in the end, only after 600 million tomans were paid, she was buried in the forced silence of the night.
But the beating heart of Baharan will make red flowers bloom from this soil, and will make the fevered body of Iran green and alive once more.
May her memory be eternal.
